Open Ears offers ear wax removal by water irrigation. The technique and equipment used is based on up to date practices and equipment with regulated and safe pressures.
Before ear irrigation begins you will be given a preassessment which includes questions about your ear health and also a visual examination of the ear canal using an otoscope.
WHAT IS EAR IRRIGATION?
Ear irrigation is the removal of wax or other foreign body from the ear canal by use of water. Warm water is gently placed into the ear canal through a small jet (projet) and circulates around the ear canal to guide the wax out of the ear and into a small metal beaker.
WHAT EAR IRRIGATION IS NOT
Please be aware that anything that blocks sound waves travelling down the ear canal to the eardrum will result in reduced hearing. The most common blockage is due to a plug of ear wax. Even if the ear wax is successfully removed Open Ears does not guarantee an improvement to hearing. There may be additional changes to your ear and hearing structures that need further investigation with a trained audiologist. However, having wax removed from the ear canal allows the audiologist to carry out investigations or hearing aid molds more successfully.
